Trotter and I at Waldingfield

Any person with physical or emotional challenges can accomplish anything they want to in life. Follow my blog and you’ll see. Anything is possible as long as you are willing to adapt how you think you should reach your goals. You are not alone.

Just because you have challenges in life doesn’t mean you shouldn’t dream big because really…who doesn’t have challenges? We’re all have our issues, right? Some of us on the inside, some on the out, or if you’re like me… both. If your floundering in life, it’s okay. Society hardwires us to feel small if we need help; it tells us to shun vulnerability. Disability is the dirty word no one wants to admit to. No matter what our issues are, at our core, none of us want to be abandoned but none of us want or vulnerabilities out for the world to see either. Some of us aren’t so lucky as to be able to hide them. Those of us who can them, suffer alone. It doesn’t have to be this way.

Being what I considered a successful sixteen year veteran quadriplegic, new mother, and competitive carriage driver, life has afforded me a unique set of experiences and challenges. Both of which I want to share with you in hopes that you may find some inspiration and humor in my blunders. Maybe avoid some of the more emotional and/or financially costly of them. And, in the least, find someone who you can relate to or who leaves you feeling better about your own set of circumstances. Because lets face it people, disability whether inside, outside, or both, is rarely pretty but if you’re a rebel and can roll with it, at least you’ll be able to laugh your way to the finish line.

In the last sixteen years I have managed to find joy and purpose, coming to grips with the certainty that things do happen for a reason, no matter how trite it sounds. It’s a matter of wading through the pain and uncertainties of the current moment until you reach the other end. I can’t tell you exactly how to do that for yourself, but I can bring you along through my own experiences in hopes that you learn from my many mistakes and gain a sense of hope for your future. Please by all means comment! I want to hear from you if you have questions, concerns, or better yet solutions I haven’t thought of!
